Favorable weather conditions, well-coordinated teamwork, and the high quality of the harvested grapes defined the key results of this year’s harvesting campaign. In total, over 7.8 million kg of selected grapes were collected.
The harvest began in August and lasted until mid-October. The farms cultivate both white and red technical grape varieties. Among the whites are European varieties: Aligoté, Chardonnay, Rhine Riesling, Sauvignon Vert, Traminer, Muscat Ottonel, and Pinot Gris. The red European varieties include Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Muscat Hamburg. Saperavi and Rkatsiteli represent Georgian selection, while Odesa Black (Odeskyi Chornyi), Bastardo Magarachsky, and Sukholymanskyi Bilyi represent Ukrainian breeding. The highest-yielding varieties this year were Aligoté, Muscat Ottonel, Cabernet Sauvignon, Odesa Black, Rkatsiteli, and Sukholymanskyi Bilyi.
“Quality wine starts in the vineyard. Its foundation is a combination of fertile land, favorable weather conditions, and the daily hard work of the people who care for every vine. Each season brings its own characteristics, yet the focus on grape growing, responsibility, and the commitment to high quality remain constant. Based on the results of this season, we can highlight the high-quality indicators of the grape clusters, while favorable weather during the harvest allowed us to complete the work right on schedule,” notes Vitaliy Ryaboshapko, General Director of JSC Koblevo.
Sunny weather and the climatic conditions of Southern Ukraine contributed to sugar accumulation in the berries. Despite insufficient rainfall throughout the season, the grapes retained their proper quality characteristics. This creates excellent prerequisites for further processing and for developing the flavor and aromatic profiles of future wines.
Harvesting required significant human and technical resources. Depending on the variety characteristics and quality requirements of the raw materials, the grapes were harvested either manually or mechanically. Certain varieties required meticulous hand-picking to create KOBLEVO's premium wines. Prompt delivery of the grapes immediately after picking helped preserve the berries' freshness and natural aroma.
The characteristics of the harvest, the skill of the winemakers, and the technological processes will shape the character of the future wine, its flavor profile, and its aromatic palette. As early as 2027, consumers will be able to see the results of this year's labor in their glasses — in new batches of wine that will enrich the brand's portfolio.
At the same time, the end of the harvest marks the beginning of preparations for the next season. Vine pruning, fertilization, autumn soil loosening, and planning for the upcoming harvest have already begun in the vineyards. After all, the quality of next season's raw materials is built long before the first berries appear — through daily care of the vineyards, the expertise of specialists, and the consistent efforts of the entire team.
